Lively discussions are taking place on the Facebook pages of Ray Comfort, Living Waters/Way of the Master and Evolution vs. God.
“If anyone comes to me and does not hate father and mother, wife and children, brothers and sisters—yes, even their own life—such a person cannot be my disciple. (Luke-Acts 14:26 BOOKS)
Ray Comfort – ‘This verse in Luke is an example of hyperbole-contrasting love with hatred for the sake of emphasis. Your love for your own life and your loved ones should seem like hatred, compared to the love you have for the God who gave you your loved ones and your own life.”
An Atheist replies to Ray’s status – “Why would there be examples of hyperbole in an instruction manual? (The bible) That is also a poor choice for spreading a teaching..”
A Christian replies – “And you’ve hit on why its so difficult for many who come here to argue against God to understand. When a text book and instruction manual is all the text you are able to grasp, other academic disciplines are like a steep and narrow incline. It takes work to bridge the gap of language, history and literary use to understand a message written to mankind across the ages, but it can be done if you step outside the prison of thought created by modern schooling.”
